FAQ
THE QUESTIONS WE HEAR FROM PATIENTS
When should I get my eyes tested?
It's recommended that your eyes should be tested every 2 years. There are some situations where an annual test may be advised - under 16s, over 70s, diabetics, family history of glaucoma or if your Optometrist wants to monitor something else. Please call us for advice.
How much does an eye test cost?
If you are a UK resident, you can get a free NHS eye examination in Scotland. This eye examination is different to eye tests you may have had before. It is not just to test your sight – it’s a more thorough examination to check the health of your eyes, and to look for signs of other health problems.
How long does an eye test take?
At the moment we have hour long appointment slots to allow us to be completely compliant with Covid-19 protocols. A thorough eye test should last somewhere between 30 and 45 minutes.
What tests do you do?
We take great pride in our ability to explain everything we do. We avoid the use of jargon to ensure you understand what each step entails, why we do it and what the results mean. We follow professional regulations and guidance to ensure we look after you.
Do I need to have drops?
If you are over 60 we will always want to dilate your pupils by using drops. This allows a superior view of the eye to ensure a thorough examination. There may be other situations when drops are recommended.
What if I need glasses/contact lenses?
We are here to give you honest, expert advice that is in your best interest. What you do with that advice is entirely up to you. Our products are fairly priced and carefully chosen in terms of quality, comfort, availability and style.
